Video: We drive James Bond's Aston DBS
Trailer: Quantum of Solace
James Bond, regardless of how he has been played over the years, has always had a powerful relationship with his cars. The best of these have been British - in one way or another - with the greatest of them all being Connery's Aston Martin DB5. We'll brush over the BMWs and invisible Vanquish that ruined the Brosnan era.
The Aston DBS that appears in Quantum of Solace gets a much longer outing than the last film. Casino Royale featured the car in a painfully short chase sequence that left us wanting more - short because Aston could only provide three cars for filming, actually DB9s dressed up to look like DBSs.
The new film is set to right these wrongs. With the Gaydon factory now hand-building 500 DBSs a year, Aston could supply EON productions with some real DBSs. And so the film opens in Italy with an epic 15-minute chase scene, set straight after the events of the previous film, with Daniel Craig driving a brand new DBS. Q section obviously has them tucked away in every European town.
Only three DBSs were used in the filming of Quantum of Solace - despite what you may have read elsewhere - and we have come to drive one of them, complete with Bond's 72 GH3LD numberplate. And it's a beauty.
