DIY and property expert George Clarke shows you just how easy it is to fit a bathroom sink with his step by step guide.

Time required:
Minimum of two hours

Cost:
From around £60 for a basin, plus £10 for accessories

Skill level:
Medium to advanced

You'll need:
Screwdrivers; adjustable wrench; small hacksaw or tube cutter; screwdrivers; PTFE tape; tape measure; spirit level; drill and bits; two adjustable spanners; cranked spanner; stud detector

Overview: If it's just the sink that needs replacing, perhaps in a shower room or cloakroom, it's not so complicated that it could be done by a non-professional. You'll need to turn off the water supply before you start work unscrew and remove the old sink – see below.

  1. Hi John I think you can just about see the flexible tap connector pipe in pic three - it's what it sounds like: a pipe with abit of bend in it. You can get them from plumbers' merchants.

  2. hardly 'made simple'.try using layman's terms and explain what each term means.....what the hell is a flexible tap connector pipe, or at least suggest where i can get one??
