“This competition was murder (see what I did there?!) to judge. I was left with a shortlist of over 20, which I read over and over again trying to whittle down to a Top 5. In the end, the sketches which still felt fresh after a 5th or 6th read, were the ones which came out top. Read the Editor's Blog to see a list of the best of the rest.” (davina_e...)
“This was the hardest competition to whittle down to 4 so far. I had a shortlist of 30. BUT RubyMae was the undoubted star. I liked Healthy Chocolate as a nice, easily recognisable take on our every day obsessions. V concise, nice punchline and one we see evry day. Amongst the many sent in by our winner I also had Spider in the Bath ( v stupid, well delivered)and Jose's Party in the shortlist. Junk Males also sent in a huge number of sketches and a few really hit the mark. I've gone for the obvious gag and how well it has been delivered this month and Mum's Ambulance fits the bill. Henry the Eigth. Lovely set-up, nice asides and magnificent licence moving Cromwell back a century to spar with Henry the 8th. I also loved the punchline. And well done to Jimothy, whose Barbados Farm gag just pipped Dog Present by FlyBe to 4th spot. I also liked Hartley Pool's Nice Old Lady sketches; Cabin Crew was a favourite in the 4Laughs office and Jim Jam Stew's Bronte Sisters' Soap is also worth a read. Keep up the good work but don't send in 30 of the same gags, I get tired and one gets the message across. Ric” (4Laughs_...)

“A good competition, but to be honest Otterfox strolled to victory with this v funny, v clever play on words that had a realistic feel and titters throughout - Well Done Fella. I had a shortlist of 14 from this and there were some good sketches which made up for the usual slightly troubling sexual fantasies that people send in as their entries. I loved the second half of the 2 Pigs in a bar sketch and the one liner for Quick Gossip. I also liked Crossed Wires for the fact it held the joke throughout. Special mentions as well for the stktches Hot Gossip, A Guinea Pigs' Tail and Evil Twin 2.” (4Laughs_...)
“Again really difficult to judge and I had to go against my insticts of the shorter the better but Jimjam stew's Horse Trader was really well written, carried the theme all the way through and was not repetetive. There were also some lovely images in it and I could visualise the gags so well done. A big Baby Cow gold star. I also loved the light bulb - short, pithy and really surprising. This would have won several other competitions. Trinny & Susannah in Iran was the best of a set of sketches taking off well known programmes and had a lovely moral message in it. I also liked The Shopping Forecast, but the ending let it down and Cornershop Confessions was also well delivered with some good jokes. This was a real pleasure to moderate and judge. Ric” (4Laughs_...)
“I really enjoyed judging this competition as it could have been won by any of the top 5 and they all had either neat ideas, good delivery and did not get too indulgent. This one one because 1) It reminded me of a meeting or two I have had over the years.... 2) The joke was maintained all the way through and although the punchline was heralded, it was well delivered and made me laugh outloud. ” (4Laughs_...)
“This was an easy joke, nicely thought through and the writing had a light feel to it. Made me laugh, even though you could see the punchline coming ahead of time.” (4Laughs_...)
