What is the process after the commissioning of a programme?
You should contact the relevant Commercial Affairs Manager(s) (refer to the Contacts section). Your Commercial Affairs Manager - Finance will notify you of the price the Channel has approved for the programme based on the agreed Ed Spec. The budget (if applicable) should be submitted for review in conjunction with the agreed Ed Spec, and contractual terms discussed. Once the deal has been agreed it will be submitted to PFC or BAB. Following PFC or BAB approval the contract will be issued and cashflow agreed.

What are tariff prices?
The tariff prices are a price that varies per category of C4 programming from which C4 will pay for a particular programme. The tariff prices are included within the Code of Practice.

What is a fixed price deal?
Please refer to paragraph 7 of the Terms of Trade for full details.

Why would I agree to a fixed price deal?
You get the flexibility to manage the C4 funding to deliver the programmes as specified. There is minimal bureaucracy and reporting requirements. You get the price we have agreed.

What is the process after the commissioning of developments?
It is broadly similar to that of programmes.

You should agree the purpose of the development and the delivery requirements with the Commissioning Editor. You should contact the relevant Commercial Affairs Manager(s) to discuss the cost of the work and contractual terms.

Developments form the underlying basis of production should we wish to proceed to production. Depending on the project it may be necessary to agree as part of the development work the fee basis for any key personnel (i.e. writers, artists etc) access permissions, archive research for the intended production and, perhaps for subsequent series.

You will need to provide a development budget for the work to be undertaken. Once agreed, PFC or BAB approval will need to be sought in the same way outlined for programmes.

The Channel does not advance money for developments until the development agreement has been signed.
