Strictly Come Dancing with Morrissey, Britney's square fried eggs and possibly the future of Pop
The 'Womanizer' video is amongst us and Britney, apart from delivering another cracking song/video, has introduced (certainly to me anyway) a new culinary delight... yes square fried eggs are tout la rage in our Britney's kitchen. The video also features the worst case of bad driving ever. Steering the wheel with one's high heel may look ace but I reckon it would get you pulled over by the cops, the kind of thing she was trying to leave behind her. It's the worst case of bad road safety in a pop promo since Girls Aloud took to their motor bikes in their 'Wake Me Up' promo and proceeded to apply lipstick and blow their dry hair whilst at full throttle!
I've never watched Strictly Come Dancing as I'm normally watching HRH Cheryl on the other side, but after hearing that Morrissey was made a serious offer to take part this year, I reckon this would have caused a channel switch. Imagine the quiffs, riffs and tiffs that his involvement would have lead to...
This time last year I thought I'd witnessed the future of Pop Music in the shape of an unknown Salford ensemble called The Ting Tings and I think I witnessed the future of pop 2009 last week in NYC. Lady Ga Ga [see pic] is the talk of the city and quite rightly so - she is Amaze. Think the songs of Britney, the writing and presentation skills of early Madonna topped of with a massive dose of ambition. Aged only 22 she has already written for Miss Britney and The Pussy Cat Dolls and come February 2009 I reckon her debut single 'Just Dance' will be sat at the top of the charts. Watch this space. She thanks Warhol, Bowie, New York and Fashion on her album... 'Nuff said really. And apparently she also shares Britney's love of square fried eggs... 2009 is all hers!!
