What’s the best thing about being home?
The best thing about being home is obviously seeing family and friends. Another bonus is not having food rations and being able to eat what I want – 5 chocolate bars in a row oh yes! I’d still do anything to be deep in the heart of the South Pacific with my second family though.
What do you miss most about island life?
I miss the people SO much. I miss the stunning scenery, windy beach, shooting stars, sitting around the fire, playing in the sea with my Hawky Hawk family! I miss going to bed and waking up with all my best friends and just generally messing around on the beach.
What was your most memorable moment?
I have so many memorable moments that I can’t even chose. Obviously there are things such as watching the sunset on the reef and Rowan’s guitar. One of my most memorable experiences is finding out that I wasn’t going HOME. I was absolutely devastated when I thought I was going back to England after 5 days. It was such an emotional rollercoaster. Another memorable event which was hilarious was when the Hawk girls built version 5 of the long – drop. Ha ha it was not a pretty sight but was such a funny moment.
Worst part of the Shipwrecked experience?
I have to admit I was a big hater of those flies and mosquitoes that felt the need to wake me up EVERY morning and eat me alive. I think I even cried because of them once – typical emotional wreck Diva! I must say I didn’t love the long – drop much but it has to be said that the Hawk hole was much better than the Tiger and Shark ones… even though we were on version 6 by the time we left!
Who did you get on best with?
HAWKS FOR LIFE THAT’S RIGHT THAT’S RIGHT! I got on really well with everyone, but particularly the Hawks as they were the people I spent the majority of my experience with and got to know the best. We turned into family rather than friends which looking back in hindsight is amazing. Arriving on Tiger Island and finishing the whole experience with them was the best thing ever. The Hawks and Tigers coming together was one of the best moments of Shipwrecked.
Anyone you won’t miss?
I can honestly say I ended the whole experience being on good terms with everyone. I got on really well with all the Shipwreckers despite occasional tiffs or arguments that took place between us all. I miss everyone SO much! I cannot even begin to explain how much I would love to be on those islands with everyone again.
Who did you fancy?
Cheeky question! Relationships between the boys and girls were mostly brother and sisterly. We bonded over lamb’s tongue and pooing issues so in all honestly it was difficult to fancy people that you lived in such close quarters with. Also the fact that we hadn’t showered in 3 months was hardly attractive. But I have to say, the Tiger boys were HOT. I love the Hawks boys too but they were more like big brothers!
Would you do it all again?
If someone was to tell me I could do it all again, I would drop everything in a second to do it! I wouldn’t change it for anything and looking back I am so happy that I ended up on Hawk Island because I think I really fulfilled the experience there.
Would you recommend it to anyone else?
Of course. I would recommend everyone to experience what I have, it is literally life changing and I have loved every second of it including all the tears and tantrums!
How has the experience changed you?
A lot of people have told me that the experience has drastically changed me. I can see that it has. I would never have been caught with no make up on, drop digging and basically living rough. But I spent months of my life like this and I am so glad that I did. I think it also taught me to appreciate things more and stop acting like the brat that I was.
Was being “shipwrecked” what you had expected?
Being shipwrecked was not completely what I expected, it was so much harder than I ever imagined. I get really annoyed with the frequent question “So you’ve basically been on a 2 month holiday?” Aaaarrrgghh I wish people could have seen just how hard it was especially Hawk Island with its lack of luxuries.
What does the future hold for you now?
I have absolutely no idea and I like it that way. I’ll eventually be going back to university so back to boring essays, but until then I’m determined to have a laugh. I will probably go travelling as I now have the traveller’s bug. So I think I’ll pretty much be partying the next year away – LOVE IT!
